Call for YKFA Short Film Entries


Young Korean Filmmakers in Australia Competition

CALL FOR ENTRIES

This year, the Korean Film Festival in Australia (KOFFIA) is back on the agenda and is even expanding its reach to Melbourne thanks to the Korean Cultural Office. We will celebrate the Australia-Korea Year of Friendship 2011 with the best in Korean cinema and are after the best short films from Korean Australian’s and promising young Directors to complement this.

KOFFIA will take place at Dendy Opera Quays Cinema in Sydney from August 24 to 29, before heading down to The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), Federation Square, Melbourne from September 10 to 13, 2011. We hope to see you at the festival watching your own little masterpiece on the big screen!

Who / When / What / Where / How 

1. To participate in the competition for the screening and prizes of Young Korean Filmmakers In Australia (YKFA), an applicant must complete, and submit the application form to the Korean Cultural Office before 6pm, July 31st, 2011. We will notify you about your application status via email and through the KOFFIA Website on August 7th, 2011. You can download the 2011 application form here

2. Successful applicants will be asked to send a screening copy of a short film in 35mm, Digital Betacam Pal, DV or DVD. The applicants will either be asked to attend the YKFA session in Sydney between August 24-29 to present their film, or to make a short (less than 2 min.) video introduction of themselves or of the film entered for the competition. This video will be shown at the screening. 

3. Prize details are to be confirmed. The Metro Screen YKFA 1st Prize will return again in 2011 as Metro Screen continues its support for young filmmakers in Australia. Keep a lookout for announcements about prize details on our website.
